Lucas Health Solutions (LHS) is a health care company based in San Diego and Coronado, California. The focus of LHS is the complete health of the individual, moving people out of pain and toward freedom in movement and function.
We provide professional occupational therapy treatment for orthopedic patients, athletes and persons seeking strong, healthy bodies. Our offices offer continuing education for health care professionals and the general public. Additionally, we promote worker safety and productivity through on-site ergonomic evaluations and workstation modifications.
The owner of LHS is Shelli Lucas Dellinger. Ms. Dellinger is recognized nationally as a leading occupational therapist, certified hand therapist and ergonomic consultant. She is also a certified structural integration practitioner.
We work with clients exhibiting limited mobility due to:
chronic pain
carpal tunnel syndrome
tendonitis (tennis elbow or golfers elbow)
rotator cuff injury
TMJ
headaches
whiplash or generalized neck pain
low back pain
knee problems
foot and ankle problems, including plantar fascitis, ankle dislocations and fractures
scoliosis
athletes looking for improved performance or due to injury from intensity of practice
musicians dealing with repetitive stress injuries from the duration of practice
poor posture to feel more flexible and lighter on their feet
Others want better posture or the Rolfing “experience” of lightness, flexibility, and personal growth that comes with being brought into alignment with gravity.
We encourage you to explore the website-and then to call to schedule your introductory session- today!
Shelli offers a personal approach to your care. During your first session, you will receive an in-depth assessment to evaluate your pain, posture, mobility, and function. Shelli will create a custom-designed plan to address your areas of need. Then, during the first session, your treatment will begin.
Expect the unexpected: during each session, Shelli will have an uninterrupted focus on you, with hands-on, one-to-one care- for at least sixty minutes! Her treatment approach comes from four points of view: as an occupational therapist, a hand therapist, a structural integration practioner and an ergonomic specialist.
During each session, Shelli begins with a mini-assessment of your progress, and a plan & goal for that day's treatment. And, she will modify her approach with your body during every session.
Shelli's treatment approach comes from a unique perspective after 35 years and four professions: occupational therapy, hand therapy, structural integration, and ergonomics. She has developed a unique treatment approach for dealing with pain and disability, The PAAT Method. This is an integrated treatment approach for dealing with pain and disability that has otherwise gone unhealed.
Shelli started her career as an occupational therapist where the whole person is treated, not simply the area of injury. She quickly found her place in the area of orthopedics and decided that specializing in hand & upper extremity therapy was her calling. While working at the Naval Hospital San Diego, treating young men and women with devastating-multi-joint injuries, she combined her roots as an OT and specialization as a hand therapist, and sought to further her education with treatment approaches that would incorporate the whole body along with the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries. That is when Shelli found structural integration, a hands-on body manipulation, developed by Ida P. Rolf over 50 years ago. It works on the connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body. But she found without modifying postural habits or correcting poorly designed work spaces, all the treatment in the world wouldn't become permanent. So along with treatment, she included assessment and modification of work and leisure-time activities.
The focus of Lucas Health Solutions is on the total health of the individual, always with the goal to eliminate pain, and return the client toward better posture, easier movement and full function of the body and mind.
Shelli started Lucas Health Solutions in 1999 so she could provide the quality of therapy that she assesses each person deserves. She believes the therapist and the doctor should direct medical care, not an insurance company. Shelli gives each client the care and the personal 1:1 treatment they need to live a balanced and full life. To find the root of the problem, Shelli’s looks at the whole body, assessing the effect of twisted fascia & muscle imbalances as they relate to her client’s posture, after injury or pain.
Shelli developed The Lucas Method of treatment that can improve your posture, lessen (and sometimes eliminate) your pain, and restore the 'old you' so you can participate in your daily activities again. Click on the button for more information.
